Another IR shot.... nearly dusk and that is the reason for the lack of white trees as everything was pretty much in the dark.

Marshland by =crazy1ady is a beautiful example of creating magic using invisible light. Infrared photography can reveal stunning results and this is just more inspiration to try something new. ( Suggested by the-purplegoldfish and Featured by Moonbeam13 )

That is dA for you, full of bugs and stuff. I have noticed this problem a lot, try deleting your cache, if that does not work, please send a helpdesk ticket to dA to let them know, the more people that report this thing, the better. :(

Hi. I use a Nikon D70 and a Hoya R72 filter. I took a custom white balance reading with the filter on and that got rid of the initial redness that unprocessed IR shots have. Then I process in photoshop, usually an s shaped curve, unsharp mask and a few other adjustments. It depends on the shot as to what I do exactly.

Thanks for your comment and hope these trade secrets help :giggle:

what equipment is needed for infra-red photography? :?
Reply
:iconcrazy1ady:
crazy1ady Featured By Owner May 31, 2005
Hi

It depends on whether you are shooting digital or film, but for both you need an infra red filter. On a digital camera you have to found out whether or not it is sensitive to infrared light. On a film camera you need to use infra red film, but be careful as automatic wind cameras can fog this film if using true infrared film.

You also need a tripod as the exposure times are long and a remote is also helpful.... other then that you need patience and some perseverence..... after all Rome wasn't built in a day :giggle:

If you want any more advice, then please feel free to contact me.

OMG this is SO beautiful!!

Here and there bits of it remind me of features of my old neighbourhood where I grew up... that's what I found eerie!

I was wondering why none of my photos have ever looked like this, but you used an infrared lens or filter!

And I GET your BATFINK reference!!! Oh, how I used to LOVE that show!!

Thank you.

I used a Hoya R72 filter on my D70. I tend to totally underexpose my IR shots as I prefer them that way... although I have since been messing around at exposing longer with some help from on my visit to Norway.

As for Batfink...... well that was a cheesy cartoon.... but so funny, the old ones are always the best :D :D

My computer usually is online 24 hours/day ant I have keep this site opened just 2 make a nice comment, fav this work and give you some devwatch, but... now after 2 days of cleaning my message center from all updates that my friends did I am so tired... I have read your journal entry and I know what you feel - I have responded 4 all those 130 messeges that I've had and even more 'cause that photographer were still updating! Awww... O.o
So don't be angry if I will just give you a devwatch and fav this piece - I think that you have heard enought from other ppl so...
